We want to thank everyone who contributed to the Poppy Fund Campaign. As mentioned in the Cape Breton Post, the RCL Branch 126 Westside (Westmount) had a balance of approx. $12,850 at the end of September. Despite the construction on Kings Rd in Sydney River, our commercial partners made close to $10, 820. After this year’s expenses, we now have close to $19,540 in the Fund. Those commercial partners included: The Atlantic Superstore, Needs (Coxheath), The Coop, Noelle’s, My Cape Breton Home, Marty’s, and the Shoppers Drug Mart in Sydney River. We are humbled by your generosity and the obvious support to the Veterans and to our branch. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!

JANUARY 6th at 6:30PM will be the executive committee meeting followed at 7:30 by the general meeting.

As always, guests and prospective members are welcome to the general meeting.

The next “last Thursday of the month” dinner will be on JANUARY 29TH

There will be a small Super Bowl party in the bar on February 8th.

There will be food provided. Cost is being worked out.

We’re planning on a golf tournament at Alderdale Greens on Rudderham Rd, Point Edwards.

Tentative date is August 29th. Cost TBA. There will be a small repast following the tournament.

Coming to a Saturday near you will be a cooking class for the kids.

Adults will be charged $10; those 16 & under will be free. 9AM-12AM. Date to be determined.

$500 Scholarship for students at Riverview High School who meet these criteria.

Child, grand-child or great grandchild of a currently serving service member or ex-service member. The uniformed services include: RCMP, the Canadian Forces (regular or reserve), and the Merchant Navy.

The applicant must be enrolled in a post secondary school.

Cannot have already accepted a bursary from another legion branch.
